A few weeks ago, some members of our club went to the Rwanda Culture Day event in San Francisco. Though the event was largely in Kinyarwanda, we found a nice man who was willing to translate for us. The panel discussion on Rwanda and globalization was one of the events our members mentioned as a highlight and featured prominent individuals such as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the CEO of the Rwandan Governance Board.
Though we were unable to see President Kagame’s speech live due to prior engagements that evening, we were able to live stream it on the drive back. His speech emphasized the necessity of Rwanda staying true to its traditional identity while continuing to modernize. As a whole, the event showcased how Rwanda is unique compared to its neighbors, being a thriving developing country, and was a wonderful illustration of how passionate the people of Rwanda are about the future of their country.
